Strange Clickbait

I was just a-scrolling innocently through my Facebook feed today only to encounter this bit of gold/garbage (you decide):

Um. What the.....?

(Sorry for the awkward gray square in the corner—I was trying to cover up a potentially triggering inset photo.)

Who publishes this stuff??

    1. I suppose I should say - nothing gold/entertaining/funny about either issue by itself (incest or eds) but to present them in this sensationalist "X --> Y" fashion is just completely ignorant and ridiculous.

    2. I got what you meant and totally agree with you.

  2. Ugh. It would be great if people in the media stopped seeing eating disorders (and plenty of other mental illnesses) as one-dimensional illnesses with a singular 'cause.' People are more complex than that, mental illness is more complex than that.

    1. Exactly. It used to (still does, sometimes..) mess with my head that there was no "cause" to my ED, because it seems like there is this prevailing freudian notion that mental illnesses are somehow reactionary. aka wtf are you complaining about Kaylee, you have experienced no trauma whatsoever that accounts for your dysfunctional brain.

Never mind the fact I have an uncle with schizophrenia, a grandmother with anxiety/ocd, and a dad with depression...
